The Mission of Peaceful Children Montessori School is to foster growth and spirituality, to educate individuals who will make thoughtful decisions based on the highest moral values and ethics, and to act upon those decisions with independence and a sense of personal and social responsibility. Peaceful Children Montessori School nurtures the development of children based on Dr. Montessoriís philosophy and teachings. The Good Shepherd method of faith formation complements and completes the Montessori philosophy of education.
Peaceful Children Montessori School (PCM) offers a unique, mixed-age, Catholic Montessori program for children ages 3 through 14. PCM is an independent Catholic school in the Diocese of Cleveland, currently located in the lower level of Divine Word Catholic Church in Kirtland, Ohio.
In 1995, PCM opened its Childrenís House (preschool-kindergarten) to 17 children ages 3-6.
In 1999, PCM was officially recognized as a State of Ohio Chartered School.
In 2000, PCM expanded to include Early Elementary (grades 1-3).
In 2004, PCM graduated its first class of 8th grade students.
In 2004, a restructuring of the PCM School Board occurred, involving a shift from an Advisory Board to a voting Board of Trustees.
In 2005, PCM received its accreditation from the Ohio Catholic Schools Accrediting Association (OCSAA).
In 2005, PCM received the Catholic Commission of Lake and Geauga 2005 Youth Justice and Leadership Award.
In 2006, PCM completed its 12th year and graduated its third class of 8th grade students. 67% of our graduates have continued their education in Catholic high schools.
In the fall of 2007, PCM welcomed 87 students, representing 58 families. This enrollment reflects a 23% increase over the 2006-2007 school year.
