Padua Franciscan is the largest private, co-educational secondary school in the Cleveland area, and one of the few within the state of Ohio to be officially chartered as college-preparatory. In 2004 and 2006, Padua was named one of the nation’s top 50 Catholic secondary schools. In 2007 and 2009, an independent study of Ohio Graduation Test results placed Padua Franciscan High School in the top 6 percent of secondary schools in the State.
Founded in 1961, Padua bases its educational philosophy on the life and spirituality of Saint Francis of Assisi. As a school in the Franciscan tradition, its mission is to develop the unique talents of each student, while giving them the skills they need to succeed in college and beyond.
Padua offers 30 Honors & Advanced Placement courses as well as programs for students with learning disabilities. With an award-winning fine arts program, 130 course offerings, 30 extracurricular organizations, a four-year service program, and 21 interscholastic sports, Padua offers students the chance to explore their passions, seize leadership opportunities, and develop into well-rounded adults. Padua’s success is evidenced by the fact that 99% of its students attend college, with nearly every senior receiving at least one college academic scholarship.
In 2009, Padua introduced its unique MedTrack curriculum for highly motivated students with a strong interest in one of the myriad of careers in healthcare. Combining a rigorous academic curriculum and many hours of direct contact experiences with a range of healthcare professionals, the program is designed to prepare students in the Franciscan healing tradition for a lifetime of service in careers related to science and medicine.
