Catholic Identity:
Since its inception in 1948, the philosophy of Saint Raphael School remains the same at its core, but always open to new insights, discoveries, and directions. As a worshipping community, we recognize our obligation to accept, assimilate and transfer the message of Jesus in the Catholic tradition in loving partnership with the parents of our students. We approach our Catholic education over a nine year period. In that span of time, we foster a strong Catholic identity in all areas of study. We are proud of our strong spiritual foundation and are blessed to see our students grow into fine young Catholics. Our ultimate goal is to transfer the rich Catholic identity in the future.

Our strong Catholic identity and faith-based curriculum are the foundations of what makes us stand out from other local schools. Students have frequent and varied opportunities to experience and express their Catholic faith each and every day.

Curriculum:The curriculum is based upon and in full compliance with the State Standards of Ohio. It is written by the Diocese with an added faith-based component. Simple Solutions, a homework based, comprehensive review math program, is being used in grades 1 through 6. Enrichment and remedial math programs are available to all junior high students. Every year junior high students are given the opportunity to take a simulated Ohio Graduation Test, which is a required test needed to pass in order to graduate from high school. Our 7th and 8th grade students had an average 89.3% passing rate.

Standardized Test Scores:
Saint Raphael student achievement on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills continues to be very strong. Our scores remain in the high 90th percentile. These tests are accepted by the State of Ohio as an appropriate assessment tool. The tests are usually administered during the month of March to students in grades one through seven. Our Writing Proficiency test results for 2008 showed that 100% of students in grade 7 scored at or above proficiency; 99% of students in grade 5 scored at or above proficiency; and 94% of students in grade 3 scored at or above proficiency.
